Treenikamojen puhdistus ja desinfiointi - tuotekohtainen lista ja tee-se-itse liuokset

In this extraordinary time, when the importance of hygiene is emphasized in our daily lives more than ever, we wanted to make sure that you clean your workout clothes correctly. Zealous hunting for bacteria and viruses can get out of hand and it is not good for training dogs. It's easy to get good and clean without ruining the training equipment, so the first instruction is:

Do not use strong bleaches, pure/industrial alcohol, strong disinfectants or concentrated tea tree oil to clean the training equipment! Although these impurities do disappear, all of these can damage your training equipment or their surface and thus shorten their useful life!

There are ready-made solutions for cleaning exercise mats that are suitable for different materials. They are made to clean gently but effectively. Refreshing scents have also been added to most of them. Check the purpose of the cleaning product - mainly whether the solution is intended only for wiping away dirt or also for disinfection. By cleaning the training sticks, their service life remains long and the safety of use remains good. Clean training equipment is more comfortable to use and training with them is more fun. Disinfecting seeks to destroy bacteria and viruses, i.e. we want to reduce contamination.

Prevention

The easiest way is when you train clean, in clean training clothes, in a clean home. Remember to wash your hands before training! The hands apply to all training equipment, the floor, clothes and possibly also the training partner (at least the high-five at the end!).

Wear clean clothes during training, because when you lie on the floor or on your training mat, they can get dirty, which you then have to clean from the training equipment. Train in a clean home, because during your training you probably don't want to start dodging dust balls, and in fast-paced workouts you move from the floor to stand up, to the side, up and down and on the mat at lightning speed - moving the dirt.

After training, take care of yourself and your training interval. Learning the routine of cleaning exercise equipment immediately after training makes maintenance easy and quick. After the workout, you mainly clean impurities such as sweat that came off during the workout. When you start training healthy and clean, you cannot transfer diseases to the training equipment, which you should necessarily disinfect. If you have lent or are planning to lend your training clothes to someone, you can clean and disinfect the training clothes before handing them over for the well-being of your training partner. When you get the training gear back, you can clean and disinfect the equipment for your own well-being.

Product-specific cleaning instructions

Regular cleaning of training beds keeps them clean and ready for use. Different training beds are cleaned in different ways. You can check the maintenance instructions for your own exercise equipment from the product manufacturer or retailer if you are not sure how to proceed. The basic rules for cleaning are:

  • yoga, pilates and exercise mats: wipe after use with a mild cleaning solution and let dry before rolling up. Some rugs can be washed in a washing machine, but before you try it, find out if it can be done. Also, do not soak or immerse the carpet in water before you have checked the maintenance instructions provided by the manufacturer or retailer.
  • resistance bands: dip your hands in a soapy solution and pull the resistance band through your hands a couple of times. Rinse in warm water and hang to dry. Avoid direct sunlight.
  • dumbbells, kettlebells, metal surfaces, etc.: wipe with a disinfectant cloth or solution after use. If you use a soapy solution, make sure it doesn't leave the exercise equipment slippery for the next use.
  • exercise bikes, treadmills, etc.: wipe the handles and screens with a disinfectant cloth or solution after use. Otherwise, you can spray a mild soap solution on the durable surfaces of the fitness equipment, let it work for a while and wipe off the dirt carefully.
  • vinyl upholstery: soft towel and mild non-abrasive cleaner. Many strong chemicals dry out vinyl and thus shorten its life. Vinyl is not absorbent, and therefore does not absorb dirt, so just a light wipe should be enough.
  • air yoga fabric: machine washable, use mild detergent and wash in cold water, delicate wash. Wash one at a time. Do not dry in the tumble dryer, but hang dry. Avoid direct sunlight.

DIY cleaner

Although cleaning and disinfecting agents are readily available in stores, they can also be easily made at home. For these instructions below, you only need either dishwashing liquid, vinegar, water, a spray bottle and a towel.

For hunting bacteria:

  • put half water and half vinegar in a spray bottle
  • spray the solution on a towel and wipe the training equipment
  • moisten the towel more if necessary
  • use a dry towel to wipe off excess moisture

To clean sweat and dirt:

  • put a couple of drops of detergent in the spray bottle and fill with water
  • spray the solution on a towel and wipe the training equipment
  • moisten the towel more if necessary
  • excess moisture can be wiped off with a dry towel
  • if soap remains on the surface of the training equipment, you can wipe it off with a towel moistened with water, dilute the soap solution next time

Keeping training rooms clean is easy. It doesn't require a lot of effort or expensive materials. With routine care, the products remain in good condition for a long time and they are pleasant to train with. Do not use too strong substances, but use mild products. The best way to reduce the extra effort of cleaning is to prevent the appearance of dirt and contamination - so start with yourself.
