Gua Sha massage is mainly used for back, neck and shoulder pain. It can also be used for beauty care and to treat the face and other parts of the body.
During Gua Sha treatment, the scraper is pulled along the skin. The treatment can be felt on the skin as a tightening and warming of the skin, but it should not cause pain. The treatment opens the microvessels under the skin, which increases blood circulation and removes tension and swelling.
In Gua Sha massage, oiled or moist skin is pulled with a scraper. Gua Sha massage is done by pulling the scraper in one direction - not even with backward movements. Start by pulling lightly and increase the pressure as you get better at using the scraper and get to know your own body better. When working with muscles, you can use more force to open jams and when working with fascia than with the face. The Gua Sha scraper can also be used on stuck muscles by pressing the stuck with the scraper until the muscle relaxes.
After the Gua Sha treatment, the skin may have red marks from scraping, to which the words Gua (scratching, scraping) and Gua (rash, redness) refer. The marks usually disappear about 1-3 days after treatment. Gua Sha treatment can be done every day.
