Paljasjalkakenkien valinta – oikean koon mittaaminen

When thinking about buying shoes online, many people may rely on their previous experiences or guesswork regarding the size. This approach may sometimes work for traditional shoes, but is not recommended for barefoot shoes. Here are a few reasons why foot measurement is very important before ordering a barefoot shoe online:

Size differences between different brands

There can be large size differences between different shoe brands and models. Even if you would normally use size 39 in one brand, it might be 38 or 40 in another. Many brands are constantly making changes to the last of the shoe based on customer feedback, so even within the same brand, the sizes of different models vary considerably. By measuring your feet, you can compare the result with the manufacturer's size chart and make a more accurate choice.

Barefoot shoe last

Barefoot shoes are designed to imitate the natural shape and movement of the foot. That is why their last is often wider than in traditional shoes. Choosing the right size is of paramount importance for the comfort and health of your feet. The right size barefoot shoe supports the natural movement of the foot and reduces the risk of many foot problems. A size that is too small or too large can reduce the benefits of the shoes and even cause discomfort or foot problems.

Resistance

Every round trip increases our carbon footprint. By carefully measuring the foot and choosing the right size, we can together reduce unnecessary emissions and thus reduce our environmental impact!

How to measure your feet:

Here's a simple tip for measuring your foot.

  • Place a sheet of paper on the floor against the wall. Avoid measuring on a thick carpet or other uneven surface.
  • Step on the paper so that the heel lightly touches the wall. Measure your leg standing, not sitting, as the leg is slightly longer when weight is allocated to it.
  • With a pencil, draw a mark on your longest toe, this way you can measure the total length of your foot. 0.5-1.2 cm of walking space is added to this leg length. Take a close look at the size chart of the shoes you want. Please note that the measurement indicated in the size chart refers to the inside measurement of the shoe, not the measurement of the foot, so remember to add an allowance to the measurement of your foot, and choose the size that best matches this number from the table!
  • The width of the foot is measured at the widest point, usually at the instep. The width of the shoe should be at least as much as the maximum width of your foot, but preferably 0.2–0.5 cm more.

Some shoe brands also have ready-to-print measurement tables, an example is below Be Lenkan from the measurement instructions. Each manufacturer you can conveniently find your own measurement instructions on the product cards, if no specific instructions are mentioned, use the measurement method above.
