Rengastrapetsin valinta ja kiinnitys

Are you thinking about buying your own ring trapeze? Ring trapeze is a fun form of aerial acrobatics that can also be practiced at home. All you need is a bit of free space and a sturdy enough place for ceiling mounting. When buying your first tire, the most important criteria are definitely the appropriate size and the number of attachment points.

Let's start with tire size!

Ring braces are available in several different diameters; 80, 85, 90, 95, 100 and 105 cm. So why is choosing the right size important? The right size tire gives you enough support and space to perform the movements. A tire that is too small won't allow you to move smoothly inside, a large tire will force you to reach, which increases the risk of falling off the tire. At first the differences may seem small, but as your skill levels increase and the tricks become more difficult, you'll probably start to better understand the importance of the right size.

95 cm is a good universal size that is suitable for most adults. This size is perfect for, for example, studios or schools where people of different heights use the ring. However, if you want to measure the size that fits your height, you can use an easy calculation to help: sit on the bench with your back straight and measure your height from the bench to the top of your head. Add 10 cm to this measurement, and you will find out the right tire size for you. The sizes of the trapezoids increase every 5 cm, so you will probably have to round to the nearest even number. If you are unsure which way to round, we recommend choosing a smaller size. I'd rather have a slightly small tire than a tire that's too big! See below for a video on measuring tire size.

Number of attachment points

You can buy a tire with one attachment point, two attachment points or completely without an attachment point. The choice of fastening method is influenced by your own preferences, as well as the amount of available space. The most commonly used tire type is single attachment point trapezoid . As the name suggests, the ring has one metal loop ready for ceiling attachment. Most studios and circus schools are equipped with these rings, as they are both very versatile to use and simple to attach. A single point ring gives you more room to perform movements over the top arc of the ring. However, it is more unstable than a two-point tire, because in addition to rotation, the user's weight causes the tire to tilt sideways.

A ring hanging from two attachment points does not start to rotate as easily as attached from one point, and does not tilt to the sides with the weight of the gymnast. Therefore, performing some tricks may feel easier and more stable. However, the two points limit the movements made on the upper arch to some extent, because there is less free space. The two-point ring can be attached either so that the strap connects from the attachment points to one roof bracket in the form of a triangle, or so that the strap goes from both attachment points to its own separate roof bracket.

Others buy a tire without an attachment point because of its simple appearance, others because of the versatile possibilities of use. This ring can be attached at either one or two points as needed – so you get the benefits of both for the price of one! In addition, this ring trapeze can also be used for horizontal mounting. A tire without an attachment point is threaded directly onto the attachment strap. You can roll a piece of tape that increases grip on both sides of the attachment point, if you hope that the tire will not be able to move from its attachment point. However, a non-pointed tire is not the best choice if you want a fast spinning tire.

Fixing the tire - you need these products

For ceiling mounting, you need the right one bracket and bolts. Do not hang the ring trapeze on the support of, for example, a punching bag or TRX straps, as these may not be strong enough and cause an accident risk.

Always take into account the roofing material and make sure your own skills are sufficient, if necessary call a professional for help. We do not take responsibility for the attachment, because as an online store we can never be remotely sure of the attachment. The bracket can be installed on a concrete roof with concrete screws. In a wooden house, the fastening must be done at the ceiling beam with sufficiently strong wood screws. Carabiners or sealing rings are good aids for the connection points of the ring, fastening strap and roof bracket. Use a sealing ring that cannot accidentally open.

Choose the fastening strap according to the height of the room, your own height and your needs.  Adjustable fastening strap is a good idea when the ring is used by gymnasts of many heights. A simple nylon strap can be used for fastening, or if you want more showiness, for example a colorful one velvet strap. Use belts tested for the purpose and always ensure the product's tensile strength and maximum load.

If you want a rotating ring, install a rotating one between the carabiner hooks surgeon . In a one-point tire, the cutter can be installed immediately after the tire (the belt does not rotate) or close to the roof (the belt rotates), in a two-point tire, the cutter is installed under the roof bracket.

An example of a mounting set for a single-point tire, in order starting from the roof:

  • 1 x attachment point + carabiner
  • (1 x cutter + carabiner, if you want the ring to rotate)
  • 1 x mooring rope
  • 1 x carabiner (if the mooring rope cannot be attached by threading)
  • 1 x ring trapeze.

Other things to consider

If you want to learn more about your choice, you can also think about the diameter of the tube and the weight of the tire. The thinner the tube, the easier it is to hold onto and the less compression you need to hang onto the tire. However, a thinner tube puts your body weight on a smaller area, potentially causing more bruising. Typically, the diameter of the tube is somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5 cm. A hollow metal tube is naturally lighter than a solid one, so if you have to constantly move the tire, a hollow tube can be a more convenient choice. However, a heavy tire rotates longer, and that's why others prefer to choose a tire with a closed tube.
