Description
Replacement filter for LifeStraw Go and Lifestraw Universal drinking bottles. The two-stage filtration system enables drinking clean water even in difficult conditions.
One lifeStraw filter cleans up to 4,000 liters of water, removing 99.9999% of water-borne bacteria and 99.9% of parasites. The activated carbon filter also effectively removes microplastics, organic chemicals and chlorine from the water, improving the taste and smell of the water at the same time. The activated carbon cartridge should be changed more often, as it cleans 100 liters of water during its life cycle. By changing the active carbon cartridge separately, you extend the life of the entire filter.
Product information:
- 2-stage replacement filter compatible with all LifeStraw Go and Lifestraw Universal bottles
- Uses advanced ultra-filter technology to remove bacteria and protozoa (lifetime up to 4000 liters)
- Activated carbon filter to reduce chlorine and organic chemical substances (lifetime 100 liters)
- The active carbon filter can be changed separately.
How it works:
Inside the LifeStraw water purifier are hollow fibers specially designed for this purpose - the so-called ultrafilter technology, which can be found e.g. from water treatment plants that clean drinking water in cities. Inside the LifeStraw filter there is a large amount of these fibers intended for filtering, which outwardly look like the undisputed king of all pastas, i.e. spaghetti, but they are actually much thinner. Each fiber has pores 0.2 microns in diameter - 500 times thinner than a human hair - and when water passes through these hollow fibers, only bacteria- and parasite-free, clean drinking water gets through the pores of the fibers. Bacteria, parasites and dirt do not enter the user's mouth with the whistle. No chemicals are used in the physics-based filtration process. LifeStraw technology has been tested in independent conditions, in various laboratory and research programs. It is certified and meets all EU directives and standards (10/2011 and 1935/2004) and the Microbiological Water Purification standard according to the US EPA 1987 Protocol. Removes e.g. the following stalwarts:
Bacteria:
- Salmonella
- Campylobacter
- Coli bacteria
- Cholera
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa (rod bacteria)
- Shigella, i.e. dysentery (causes diarrhoea).
Parasites, i.e. parasites:
- Giardia lamblia, an intestinal parasite
- Cryptosporidium parvum
- Entamoeba histolytica, i.e. Gut Amoeba.
LifeStraw activated carbon filters improve the taste of water by removing chemicals such as chlorine and odors. Activated carbon has been treated with special processes to open millions of tiny pores between the carbon atoms. LifeStraw uses an advanced specialty formulation made from fibers instead of traditional granulated carbon for improved longevity and performance. The process works by adsorption - the impurities are trapped inside the pore structure of the carbon and bind to the surfaces of the fibers. Over time, when all surfaces are full, the carbon filter must be replaced.
