Regular cleaning helps keep your yoga mat fresh and hygienic. With us, you can find high-quality cleaning products for home and studios. How to clean a yoga mat depends on the material of the mat, but here are some general tips that will work for most mats:
Light cleaning after each use
The most important thing is regular cleaning. Wipe the surface of the carpet with a damp rag after each use. You can add a little mild detergent to the water or a spray specially designed for cleaning yoga mats.
If you practice outside, or if there is dirt or debris stuck to the yoga mat, brush them off lightly with a soft brush. You can use a clothes brush to clean the woolen yoga mat.
Deep cleaning regularly
If you use your carpet regularly, deep cleaning should be done about once every couple of months, but check the washing instructions of the carpet first! Some of the yoga mats can even be washed in the washing machine, others are recommended to be soaked in a mild detergent for a little longer.
Dry properly
Allow the rug to air dry completely before rolling it up for storage. Avoid direct sunlight, which can damage some materials. Rolling up a damp carpet tightly can cause unpleasant odors and, at worst, spoil the carpet.
Special materials
If the rug is made of natural materials such as cork, jute or wool, follow the manufacturer's instructions, as these materials often require special care. There is a cleaning agent for carpets made of natural rubber.
Extend the cleaning interval
Extend the cleaning interval by exercising only in clean clothes, wash your hands and feet before exercise. Also use yoga socks if necessary. For intensive exercises and hot yoga, we recommend a yoga towel that comes over the mat, which absorbs sweat and thus prevents it from being absorbed into your yoga mat. All you have to do is throw the yoga towel into the washing machine at the end of the hour, and wipe your mat lightly.
Note! Do not use strong bleaches, pure/industrial alcohol, strong disinfectants or concentrated tea tree oil to clean the training equipment! Although these impurities do disappear, all of these can damage your training equipment or their surface and thus shorten their useful life!
